Painted Horses Public Art Placement
Council directed staff on placement for the third and fourth painted horses in Davie’s public art collection:
- The grazing thoroughbred (blue, with Native American motifs) will be installed at the Old Davie School on Griffin Road, near the Seminole chickee hut
- The running mustang (red, with Seminole-approved design) will be placed at Westridge Park for visibility from the road
Both designs were approved by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Round two of the painted horses open call closed December 28, with committee review underway.
Horseshoe Bike Rack Project
Council approved moving forward with artist Josh Zupov’s horseshoe bike rack design, incorporating Davie’s 100-year centennial logo. Four horseshoe racks will be installed at each of two locations (Pine Island Multi-Purpose Center and Bamford Fitness Center), with a mix of colorful and natural/patina finishes. The town will own the copyright for future fabrication.
Board Appointments
Multiple board reappointments were approved, including the agricultural and environmental advisory committee, budget advisory committee, fire pension board, United Ranches Preservation Board, and youth education and safety advisory committee.

What This Means for Homeowners
Davie’s investment in public art and community character continues to distinguish it from neighboring municipalities. The painted horses, horseshoe bike racks, and sustainability programs all contribute to the town’s unique identity, something that resonates with buyers attracted to Davie’s blend of western heritage and modern amenities. Properties near the Old Davie School and Westridge Park may see a small boost in appeal as these art installations draw visitors and attention.
Horse owners should take the equine herpes virus advisory seriously. While the immediate risk period has passed, the incident underscores why Davie’s equestrian community needs to stay vigilant about biosecurity, especially when traveling to out-of-state events. The town’s quick response with signage and communication reflects its commitment to the equestrian lifestyle that defines many Davie neighborhoods.
